Child Safety Policy

YouTube Kids is a specially designed app that aims to provide a safe and age-appropriate experience for children using YouTube. However, protecting children from inappropriate and dangerous content remains a top priority for YouTube. As a result, YouTube has developed a strict child safety policy to ensure that children can enjoy suitable and safe content on this platform.

Prohibited Content

YouTube Kids has a strict policy when it comes to the types of content that are not allowed on the platform. The following categories of content are strictly prohibited:

Child Sexual Exploitation: Any content involving the sexual exploitation of minors is completely banned from YouTube Kids.

Harmful or Dangerous Behavior: YouTube Kids does not permit content that depicts or encourages dangerous activities, such as the use of weapons, controlled substances, or engaging in risky physical stunts.

Misleading Content: Content that could cause psychological harm or confusion for children, like simulations of child abuse or abandonment, is strictly prohibited.

Cyberbullying and Harassment: YouTube Kids has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to any form of bullying or harassment, including content that may emotionally harm young viewers.

Examples of Prohibited Content

Some examples of content that is not allowed on YouTube Kids include:

  • Videos simulating parental abuse or abandonment of children.
  • Videos showing children engaging in dangerous physical stunts, using weapons, or consuming controlled substances.
  • Content that could cause intense shame, humiliation, or other psychological harm to minors.

Consequences of Violations

YouTube takes a very serious approach to enforcing its child safety policy on the YouTube Kids platform. If a video is found to be in violation of the prohibited content guidelines, YouTube will take swift action.

The consequences for violating the YouTube Kids’ child safety policy are as follows:

  • First Violation: The channel owner will receive an official warning, and you will have the chance to take policy training to allow the warning to expire after 90 days
  • Second Violation: The same policy is violated within that 90-day window, the warning will not expire and your channel will be given a strike. If you violate a different policy after completing the training, you will get another warning.
  • Third Violation within 90 Days: If the channel owner receives a third violation with the same policy within the same 90-day period, YouTube will take the most severe action and permanently terminate the channel.

YouTube is committed to maintaining a safe and appropriate environment for children on its YouTube Kids platform. By enforcing these strict consequences for policy violations, YouTube aims to deter the upload of any content that could potentially harm or endanger young viewers.

YouTube Kids’ child safety policy is a strong commitment by YouTube to protect children from inappropriate and dangerous content. By adhering to these regulations, we can ensure that children have access to safe and suitable content on this platform.
